Does that book say,
"Read me or I die"?
It should.
It has no life but mine.
I pass the sentence on it.
I pardon or condemn.
It may be left a prisoner,
Consigned to gather dust,
Not on the merits of the case,
But out of arbitrariness,
Or, may be chosen purposefully
For good and noble reason,
Or just to fill the time.

Shall I pardon,
Or pass it by?
Should not that book say,
"Read me or I die"?
